The ROT Deduction 50% – But Only Until the End of the Year!

Tyresö, 2025-10-07

Swedes have long had access to both ROT and RUT deductions, but it’s primarily RUT that has offered a 50% deduction. Since July 2024, however, you as a private individual can also deduct a strong>50% of the labor cost for ROT-related work – but only until December 31, 2025!

Why was the ROT deduction increased?

The reason is simple: households are holding on to their money, and many are postponing renovations and repairs. To stimulate the economy and support the construction sector – one of the sectors hardest hit by the economic downturn – the government has temporarily raised the ROT deduction from 30% to 50%.

According to Eurostat, Sweden’s unemployment rate in July and August was the third highest in the EU, and the construction industry is in its deepest crisis in 30 years. By choosing even small renovations, you not only save your own resources – you also help reduce unemployment and strengthen the industry. We hope the market stabilises soon.

Why only until the end of the year?

The temporary increase is part of an economic stimulus package that applies from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025. After that, it’s likely the ROT deduction will return to 30%.

That’s why it’s smart to plan your renovation now and make sure the work is completed before the end of the year – especially if you want to benefit from the higher deduction.

What does this mean for you as a customer?

Many companies have taken the opportunity to raise their prices during this period – meaning it’s the company, not the customer, that gets the extra ROT benefit. But we’re keeping our prices the same – so it’s you as the customer who saves money. We all hope the 50% ROT deduction will be extended, but until then, we’re here to help you with your project.
